Scholarships

In 2010, JGS, Inc. announced its newly established joint-venture with colleges, universities and photography-based student programs across the country to create a nationally-recognized scholarship program for young artists – Resolution.

As a first step, JGS teamed up with Imagining America, a consortium of more than 80 colleges and universities united by one mission: to create campus-community partnerships through the arts and humanities. We also partnered with  a select group of schools and museums who offer community arts education programs.

This past year, JGS funded scholarships to ten IA colleges and seven community-centered institutions who have launched programs in photography to area high school students. We also gave The Herb Sturz Award for Excellence in Photograph to seven institutions.  Each of these schools, universities, museums, or institutions was awarded $2,500 to assist a senior preparing to pursue post-secondary education in photography or media arts.
